Master P and wife to divorce after 24 years of marriage

On Behalf of | Nov 7, 2013 | High Asset Divorce |

In Lake County, as well as in other localities throughout the U.S., even the longest running couples may eventually decide that they no longer work together as a couple. While a couple can choose to simply separate and begin living apart, it is not made legal until the necessary documents are filed and approved by a family law court.

After 24 years of marriage, rapper P. Miller, better known as Master P, and his wife are reportedly headed for a divorce. According to reports, Miller’s estranged wife only recently filed the legal documents, making the split official, but they have already been living apart for a while. It was not reported whether or not the alleged domestic abuse by Miller in 2011 had any impact on Mrs. Miller’s decision to file. The reason listed in her filing was, according to reports, irreconcilable differences.

As a part of what will likely be a high asset divorce settlement, it is probable that Miller’s soon to be ex-wife will seek an equitable distribution of any property interests they may share, as well as for any of his other personal and business assets. Miller reportedly has an estimated net worth of $350 million. While there were no details reported regarding possible terms of a divorce settlement for the high-profile couple, Mrs. Miller did purportedly request that the rapper pay her spousal support. She has also asked for full custody of the four children they share.

In cases such as this, with complex asset division, as well as in less complicated situations, it may be of benefit for anyone considering a divorce to obtain legal representation. A lawyer will not only look out for your interests and can negotiate a settlement on your behalf to help minimize the weight and stress on your shoulders.
