When faced with divorce, many couples in Lake County, Ilinois worry that they will not get their fair share of the assets and property accumulated during the marriage. Some might worry about losing the things they owned before the marriage. In Illinois, property is divided up equitably, not necessarily equally. What this means is that the property will not just be divided in half, but instead a variety of factors will be considered to determine how it will be divided.
The pop duo of Captain and Tennille are seeking a divorce after 38 years of marriage. They are asking for the equitable division of debt, obligations and marital property. Toni Tennille, 73, filed for divorce, saying on the divorce petition that the marriage was irretrievably broken. Neither she nor Daryl Dragon, or "The Captain" as he is known in show business, are seeking spousal support.
The couple became popular in the 1970s and had 14 songs that made it to the pop singles charts. They have no children, and although their marriage appeared to be a happy one, a statement on their website talks about naturally evolving over the years and uncovering hidden feelings.
If you are headed for divorce and are worried about dividing up your property and assets, it can be a good idea to speak with an attorney experienced in family law. Doing so can give you peace of mind knowing that your interests will be protected and that you will have someone in your corner fighting for you.
