Tutera and ex-partner split up twins in child custody agreement

On Behalf of | Sep 27, 2013 | Child Custody |

Unless the parents already agree, family law judges in Lake County, and elsewhere, help to sort out questions of child custody, visitation and support, among other family legal issues. The arrangements determined and signed off by judges are generally made with the best interest of the child in mind and are meant to ensure that the children are still cared and provided for, even though the parents no longer work as a couple.

In a sort of real life “Parent Trap” child custody arrangement, David Tutera, the wedding planner featured on the WeTV hit, “My Fair Wedding”, and his ex-partner have decided to split up their twins. The couple, which are currently having their nearly 10-year civil union dissolved, each biologically fathered separate embryos that were carried at the same time by a surrogate.

According to reports, a judge recently signed off on the temporary arrangement, which gives full custody of each child to its biological father. It was not reported whether a permanent order would eventually be issued, or if the current agreement may at some point be modified to include some sort of visitation rights arrangements.

While this situation and the resolution are relatively unique, the question of how to decide the best child custody arrangement for the children and the parents is not. If you are involved in a child custody dispute, it may be of benefit to seek legal counsel from an experienced attorney. A lawyer can answer any questions you may have and help ensure you understand your options so you can make the best decisions for your situation.
