Child support dispute brought to Chicago street

Child support agreements are commonly complex and include differing ideas on the part of both parents. Illinois child support guidelines are in place to help courts navigate the emotional components and work to find agreements that are in the best interests of the child or children. Child support is intended to cover all every day expenses involved with raising a child. This includes medical needs, extracurricular expenses, food, home, clothing and other such items. Even after court agreements, however, some parents still wish for more.

The ex-wife of Miami Heat player Dwayne Wade recently camped herself on a Chicago street corner, claiming homelessness due to Wade’s supposed lack of child support payments. Claiming that she has only received three payments of child support in a total of six years, Siohvaughn Funches held a sign telling the public that her ex-husband essentially put her out on the streets.

Wade has been granted full custody of the couple’s two sons and apparently states that he has made all appropriate payments to his ex-wife as required. These include paying her mortgage and home maintenance as well as paying for four cars for her.

In the event of post-divorce disputes, it is important to have proper documentation. Working with an experienced lawyer during your divorce can help prevent unpleasant results later on if a dispute occurs. When you first start a divorce process, it can be in your best interest to seek proper legal counsel to protect yourself and your children down the road.
